To commemorate the 20th Anniversary of the Kidney Dialysis Foundation, we launched an exquisitely crafted charity icon for 2016 – aptly named “Double Fortune”.
The circular art piece seeks inspiration from the unique Chinese art form of Liuli, where hues of amber and emerald meet in the fluid translucency of the other circle, and a pair of goldfish swim among lotus leaves. Resting within the circle is a pair of tangerines, a symbol of good fortune. While circular objects have long been favoured in fengshuias they are associated with wealth and riches, the subtle colours and crystal-like clearness further accentuates the purity and spirit of this icon.
At the Icon Launching Ceremony and Appreciation Dinner held on 16 July 2016, Member of Parliament, Ms Tin Pei Ling officially unveiled the charity icon in the presence of over 600 invited guests.
Major donors for that evening included Ms Sia Poh Lan ($20,000), Mr Richard Lee, proprietor of Fu Lu Shou Si Mian Fo ($12,000) Mr Lim Siah Mong, Chairman of Dester Beer ($11,800), Mr Tan of Hock Hwa Casket ($11,116), Mrs Yeo ($10,999), Mr Tan Kee Kuang, owner of Lao Zhong Zhong Five Spice stall ($10,000), Mr Tong Lee Song, proprietor of Golden Pillow 933 ($9,333), and Ms Eliza, owner of Eliza Beauty & Fashion House ($8,888).
